The return of "The Frozen Sky"
I'm pleased to report that my WOTF-winning novelette "The Frozen Sky" has just been reprinted in Apex Magazine along with new stories from Glen Lewis Gillette and Jennifer Pelland. Apex #1 Vol. 3 is available online or as a sharp-looking pdf or as a print magazine. You can order it here and, hey, this is a collector's item, folks!
If you didn't catch "The Frozen Sky" in Writers of the Future 23, here's your chance.
Amazing.

And Now For Something Completely Different
Could I possibly *be* any more 21st Century?
Here is a YouTube video of the first introduction I did this summer for Starship Sofa for "The Frozen Sky," talking about the story's origin, its characters, and so forth. Let me know what you think!

Topnotch podcast of "Long Eyes"
The mind-crogglingly awesome crew over at Starship Sofa has just released another story of mine as a free podcast. The smooth-voiced Amy H. Sturgis, who was in perfect pitch last summer for “The Frozen Sky,” returns as the narrator of “Long Eyes.” For me, listening to it is an odd experience. This sounds like a story I’ve never heard before. Her delivery is rich and calm and evocative. The story starts at about the 30 minute mark into their podcast. Highly recommended.

Language Lessons
My one regret is that the only people I know who speak (much less read) Romanian are the two editors whose names run across the top of this book, which is the debut edition of a showcase anthology series by Millennium Press. It features short fiction written by their novelists. Check out this line-up! And I'm the anchor, dude! They're running me first. Which is a first. Ha ha.
My story for the Millennium showcase is "The Frozen Sky," which is beginning to give "Pressure" a run for its money as my most-successful piece of short fiction. For those of you with Romanians on your Christmas shopping list, the anthology will be out in three weeks. ;)

Home Sweet Home
How nice is it to come home and find something like *this* in your in-box?The image is cover art created by a fan known to me only as Ben for my novelette "The Frozen Sky," using actual NASA imagery of Europa's surface. Extremely, extremely cool.

The Frozen Sky
More good news from afar. My novelette “The Frozen Sky” remains my favorite of all my short fiction (it's dark and freaky!) and it’s well on its way to becoming my most successful, too. This week “Sky” was bought by the Czech sf/f magazine Pevnost, where it will run in their October issue. This is an award-winning publication, full-color, glossy cover. Sweet. Give ‘em a peek at http://www.pevnost.cz/ I have little idea what any of that says, but it’s an awesome-looking site. Excitement!
Also this week, the good folks at the U.K.-based-but-world-spanning podcasters of Starship Sofa have released “The Frozen Sky” as an audio file read by Amy H. Sturgis in her cool, poised, and totally hot British accent, which is perfect for the main character, who is also European. Check it out at http://www.starshipsofa.com
Amy’s delivery is hands-down superior, and they paired me with a Spider Robinson story, which is just gravy on the ice cream! ;)
